FEG is a small, limited liability international consulting group based in the United States, with company partnerships in the UK and Canada. Since its inception in 1998, FEG has developed a strong reputation as a leader in livelihoods-based household food security analysis. The senior partners in FEG have played a central role in the design, initial implementation, and continued development of the Household Economy Approach (HEA), which has become an internationally-recognized analytical framework for conducting livelihoods analysis in the context of emergency and development project design, monitoring and evaluation.

Who we work for

What we do

Our expert staff have extensive experience in the international development field. They combine a shared skill in household economy and livelihoods analysis with diverse background qualifications including food policy, nutrition, agricultural and development economics, international development, social and development anthropology, gender and development, and sociology.

FEG clients are non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government agencies, multi-lateral donors, foundations and international development contractors. These include the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID), the World Food Programme (WFP), Save the Children UK, Oxfam Great Britain, and Chemonics International, among others.

FEG’s services focus on improving assistance to poor households in Africa, Asia and Central America, and they do this through the consistent and pioneering application of evidence-based analytical frameworks, the collection of targeted livelihoods-related information sets, and the design of customized products and processes for decision-makers at all levels in the development and humanitarian world.
