FEG set up and ran spreadsheet tools in March-October 2020 for HEA Outcome Analysis of the economic impact of Covid-19 lockdown for: FEWS NET in Southern, West and East Africa; Save the Children in Nepal and West Africa; FSD in Kenya; and Oxfam in El Salvador. The new challenge was how to analyse shocks that appeared after the normal seasonal assessment timeframe and affected part (but not all) of the consumption year. For example, Covid-19 lockdown / economic restrictions applied to some months of the year and not others. The analysis of unexpected shocks like Covid-19 confirmed the importance of understanding the seasonality of food and income sources in each livelihood zone.
